　　摘要：

　　How do space and environment impact upon infectious disease? This talk will discuss several partial differential equation models for infectious diseases, mainly focusing on the effect of spatial diffusion and environmental factors such as spatial heterogeneity and time-periodicity on the basic reproduction number, and address issues related with coexistence of multiple strains. We will also discuss some related mathematical theory for principal eigenvalues of second order differential operators.

　　樓元,，上海交通大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)科學(xué)學(xué)院院長(zhǎng),，1984-1991年就讀于北京大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系，獲學(xué)士和碩士學(xué)位,。1991-1995年就讀于美國明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系并獲博士學(xué)位,。曾在MSRI（1995-96年）和芝加哥大學(xué)（1996-98年）做博士后，1998-2021年任教于俄亥俄州立大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系,，2009-2013任美國數(shù)學(xué)生物研究所副所長(zhǎng),，2022年起任上海交通大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)科學(xué)學(xué)院講席教授。其研究興趣是反應(yīng)擴(kuò)散方程及在生物學(xué)中的應(yīng)用,，發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文140余篇,，目前擔(dān)任J. Differential Equations、J. Math. Biol.,、SIAM J. Appl. Math.等期刊編委以及DCDS-B的共同主編,。
